Overall great experience. The captain was extraordinary and made the experience even better.
This was our first time on a bareboat charter and it won't be our last. I cant say enough at what a great time we had. For the first 5 days it was two couples. the boat was great and easy to handle with just the four of us. 5 days later our children showed up for the next 5 days. There was plenty of space for all to enjoy. We stopped in at many different ports, so every day was unique. We saw the islands of St Maartin, St Barts and Anguilla from a different prospective than people that just fly into a location. We saw the beauty of the shoreline instead of looking out from the shoreline. Globe Sailor found us a great boat and great people to work with, at a fair price.
From beginning to end this was a great family trip. Check-in was smooth, everyone was accommodating, and you could tell that our enjoyment was the number one goal. Our skipper was our guide, we even spent time with his family and made the best memories I think we ever have on vacation. My advice to anyone new to the experience like we were is to ask lots of questions about what's on the boat and what's not. I was confused about things like trash bags and coffee pots and things to cook fish (charcoal, foil?) etc etc. A really detailed info sheet for clients would have been helpful. In the end it didn't really matter though, as in that state of relaxation nothing does!
We were 8 in a Lagoon 45, but the boys (22 and 23) did not want to share a bed so one of them chose to sleep in the dinette. It worked perftectly and we still had 2 more bunks in the bow! The boat could accomodate 11, although the bow bunks did not have the best ventilation, they are probably uncomfortable in the warm months.
Last time we had rented a Lagoon 43 and the difference in comfort was very noticeable!
We spent the first and last night night at the marina. On both occasions the restaurant had live music, personally I did not mind it but be warned.
The marina may not have all the comforts of a Mooring´s marina but everything was perfect. Everyone was very hospitable and professional, particularly Yur and Toni!. The market to supply your boat is right next door. The ship chandler is also in the marina, although we never saw it open, We were there on weekends.
This is our fifth experience renting boats and everything was perfect!
