Three Reasons to Charter a Yacht in Dubrovnik

1. Delightful Dalmatian Conditions

The Dalmatian coastline is known for its ideal sailing conditions. From April to September, its coastline experiences a mild breeze (winds averaging 10-20 knots) and the average temperature remains a pleasant 28°C. August is the best month to swim in the sea, as water temperatures reach a high of 25°C. Blue skies, calm waters, and endless days of sunshine make a yacht charter in Dubrovnik a top choice for many sailors.

2. Brilliant Beaches

Take a 3.5-kilometer stroll from the old town and you will arrive at the entrance of the beautiful Lapad beach. When you want to take a break from the sun, there are many excellent bars and restaurants to take shade in. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the fabulous views of the Old Town as you spend a day on Banje Beach. This is one of the most popular beaches of the jagged Dalmatian coastline and has a reputation for being very lively during the summer months. Looking for peace and quiet away from the crowds? A yacht charter will give you access to Betina Cave. This hidden beach is only accessible by boat and is a great place to unwind. Be advised that many beaches found on the Dalmatian coastline are not sandy. Rather, most are rocky and pebbly, so bring along comfortable shoes.

3. Monuments Galore

From climbing ancient city walls to an impressive cathedral, one is sure to be kept busy during a yacht charter in Dubrovnik. Find your way to the Sponza Palace to witness a combination of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Next, wander towards the Church of St. Blaise, which was erected in 1715 and is dedicated to the city’s patron saint. Interested in medicine? A visit to the Franciscan Monastery will bring you to the third oldest pharmacy in the world. Croatia’s rich history can be seen throughout this charming city.

ACI Marina

Located just 6km from the Old Town, ACI Marina Dubrovnik is found at southern end of the Croatian coastline. The marina is open all year long and has 380 berths for wet boats. It can be very busy during the summer months, so it is highly recommended to book in advance. The marina has an array of facilities including a fuel station, showers, a grocery store, restaurants, and much more. Recognized for its cleanliness and efforts to preserve the environment, the marina was awarded a blue flag. A yacht charter from this base, is the perfect location to start your journey along this unique coastline.

An Afternoon on Lokrum Island

Sail your boat rental 15 minutes away from the port and land on the impressive Lokrum island. Wander the lush botanical gardens or visit the old monastery. Colorful peacocks and rabbits are the locals of this petite paradise. It is common to see them freely roaming around the protected nature reserve. Looking to cool off after all this exploring? Take a dip in the small salt-filled lake known as the “dead sea.” Cars and overnight stays are forbidden on this pristine island. Although, no one actually lives on the island, there are a few restaurants to dine at while visiting.

Festivals & Events

Dubrovnik Summer Festival: Each year from mid-July to the end of August, this city is home to 2,000 artists from over 30 countries. More than 80 events take place, including music performances, open air films, theater programs, and much more. A yacht charter in Dubrovnik during this festival is highly recommended to experience an international gathering.
St. Blaise’s Day: Each year on February 3rd, the city honors its patron saint with a daylong celebration. In the morning there is a service in front of the cathedral and then followed by a religious procession through the streets. This tradition has not changed since 972!
Carnival: Come join a week of fun! During the carnival, festivities include music, costumes, and many performances. Conclude the week by attending the masked ball on the final night. This festival usually takes place just before Easter.

Getting to your boat rental in Dubrovnik

Getting to your yacht charter in the “pearl of the Adriatic” is only a direct plane ride away from many major European cities. A flight to this marvelous city, is just over two hours from Paris, London, or Berlin. Once you land at the international airport, a 30-minute drive will land you in the heart of town. Take a shuttle service or taxi to the marina, where your vessel awaits.
