Crossing the Atlantic in a catamaran is already an extraordinary adventure. But to do it in a flotilla, surrounded by other boats, is even more incredible. Imagine sailing as part of a group, while retaining a certain amount of freedom, and experiencing some unforgettable moments together! All sailing levels are accepted: beginners, intermediates or experts, which makes this human and collective adventure all the more wonderful. The 6 catamarans will set sail from Valencia (Spain) to Lanzarote (Canaries), then sail to Cape Verde, where they will hoist the sails for the long crossing to Martinique, and finally head for Tortola (BVI).

Itinerary of your cruise

The 6 catamarans will start their journey in the beautiful coastal city of Valencia, Spain, and will sail to some heavenly destinations, each with its own characteristics and wonders.

STAGE 1: Valencia - Lanzarote (approx. 7 days)
Make your way to Valencia, a city with a rich maritime heritage, to discover your catamaran, settle in and meet your team-mates and crew. Get to know each other and take part in the briefing so that you're fully prepared to set sail for the Atlantic. The first stopover will take you to the Canaries, to Lanzarote, a volcanic island with a lunar landscape. You'll be able to discover the vibrant soul of this island renowned for its mild climate, its incredible nature and its sailing-friendly winds.

STAGE 2: Lanzarote - Cape Verde (approx. 7 days)
Once the 6 catamarans are reunited, you'll set sail for the Cape Verde archipelago. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters and the warm, relaxed atmosphere. The islands of Cape Verde are full of splendid beaches, as well as impressive volcanoes and magnificent hiking trails. It's also a country with a fascinating culture that blends its African roots with Portuguese colonial influence.

STAGE 3: Cape Verde - Martinique (approx. 14 days)
Embark on the great Atlantic crossing. After several days at sea, you'll drop anchor in Martinique. This magnificent island in the French West Indies will not disappoint you. You'll have the chance to discover breathtaking landscapes: a fertile land where tropical vegetation contrasts with beaches of white and black sand, bordered by turquoise waters. West Indian culture, local markets and Creole music will have you dreaming. A well-deserved rest after this adventure at sea, and a taste of codfish accras as you share your first emotions of the crossing.

STAGE 4: Martinique - Tortola (approx. 5 days)
Take part in the last leg, admittedly the shortest, but undoubtedly the most exotic. This trip offers more relaxed sailing but is just as rich in beauty and emotion. Crossing the magnificent waters of the Caribbean will plunge you into a moment out of time. You'll arrive in Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, renowned for its white sandy beaches and clear waters. It's the ideal place for snorkeling and diving, thanks to its coral reefs and shipwrecks. So the adventure ends here, in this heavenly setting!

Some Notes:
1- Sailing is done in flotillas (alongside other boats). There are 6 catamarans in all, which will set off together at the start of each leg.

2- The departure dates are fixed, but the arrival dates may change depending on the weather or other conditions. We recommend that you take flexible flight tickets.

3- During legs 2 and 3, you will have the opportunity to take Sextant courses (at an extra cost). Using the Petrel ocean navigation method, you will learn to find land with the sole help of the Sextant, the Spanish Nautical Almanac and the wristwatch, without the need to use a calculator, PC, tablet or GPS. All lessons are given in Spanish.

4- Please note that the crew includes doctors and technicians. In addition to being surrounded by sailing professionals, you can be reassured about the medical and technical aspects.

5- Everyone takes part in domestic chores, navigation, or maneuvers, depending on their experience level.

  • A few tips for your transatlantic voyage:
    Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your transatlantic crossing:
    We advise you to see your GP and a dentist just before you leave: dental problems are particularly annoying.
    • Take a few medicines with you and adjust your medicine cabinet to your own health:
      For seasickness. No one is immune to seasickness. Stugeron has fewer side effects, and Primalan works well.
    • Broad-spectrum antibiotic (e.g. amoxicillin)
    • For pain relief: it's better to take paracetamol or aspirin rather than anti-inflammatories (Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.).
    • Adrenaline pen-injector (Anapen): in case of allergies. Anyone can have an unexpected allergic reaction with serious consequences. If you are at risk of an allergy, let the skipper know, and it's best to have such a medicine available. It's useful to take prescriptions with you, as some medicines are authorized in France and prohibited in certain countries (ask your GP).

  • Is it possible to do 2, 3 or 4 stages?
    You can choose to take part in 2 or 3 legs or all the legs of the transatlantic crossing. To find out the cost, simply add up the prices of the cabins mentioned in the ‘fares’ section according to the legs you choose.
    You will receive a 10% discount if you do 2 or more legs.

  • What is the departure time and place for each stage?
    Departures are at 11 a.m. for each stage.
    Here are the exact starting bases:
    Leg 1: Valencia - Marina Port
    Leg 2: Lanzarote - Marina Rubicon
    Leg 3: Cape Verde - Mindelo in San Vicente island
    Leg 4: Martinique - Port de Fort de France (MQFDF)
    Finish : Tortola - Road Town Port

  • How is life on board (meals, cleaning, rules, etc.)?
    - You are expected to attend lunch or the main meal of the day to socialize and share time together.
    - Shifts are set up for cooking and cleaning the kitchen and communal areas after meals.
    - Weekly shifts are set up for deck cleaning (every X number of hours).
    - Cabins and bathrooms are the responsibility of their occupants but must be kept clean.
    - Water is a rare commodity, so please try to consume it rationally.
    - On arrival in port, the deck must be thoroughly cleaned.
    - It is forbidden to throw any object, polluting waste (including organic waste) or anything else into the sea.
    - Generally speaking, Atlantic crossings are a good opportunity to enjoy nature at sea, away from everyday problems. It is everyone's responsibility to try to contribute and maintain a good atmosphere on board.

  • What happens in the event of cancellation?
    In the event of cancellation, you must inform your GlobeSailor advisor as soon as possible. Whatever the cause, the following cancellation fees will be due: up to 90 days before departure: 30% /// from 89 to 60 days: 50% /// from 59 to 30 days: 75% /// from 29 days to departure: 100% of the amount of your booking.
