What if you explored the Maldives on board a fully privatized, traditional dhoni! This elegant boat will take you to the most beautiful diving and snorkeling sites of the Malé and Ari atolls. You will sail for 8 days on a full board cruise with a local crew who knows the archipelago perfectly. The stopovers in the underwater reserves (Kudarah Thila, Mushimasmigili...) and in the small local villages (Dangethi, Malé) will appeal to diving enthusiasts (session on request) or snorkeling enthusiasts as well as those who just want to relax.

Your cruise will take place on board a traditional 22-metre long dhoni. This typically Maldivian boat is built according to traditional rules and mainly made of coconut wood. You will sail on board the dhoni Stella 1 or Stella 2 depending on the number of passengers. Both authentic and modern, these vessels are particularly comfortable at sea. At the front of the sun deck, you can relax on the deckchairs and admire the magnificent view of the atolls.

Your Cabin

The Stella 1 can accommodate 4 passengers in its 1 double cabin (1 bed 180x200) and 1 twin cabin (2 single beds convertible into a large double bed).
The Stella 2 can accommodate 6 passengers in its 2 triple cabins (1 bed 160x200 cm and 1 single bed).
All cabins are air-conditioned (individually regulated) and equipped with storage space, a hairdryer and a bathroom with private shower and toilet.

DAY 1: Malé Airport - Velassaru (South Malé Atoll)
You will be met at Malé Airport by our driver who will drive you to the boat. Once on board, you will meet the crew and drop your luggage in your cabin. It is then time to set sail for Velassaru, located just a few miles southeast of Male. This is the perfect place to start a cruise and enjoy the long sandy beach and turquoise water. You can also put on fins, mask and snorkel to explore the sea bed. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2: Velassaru - Mushimas Migili (North Ari Atoll)
This morning, you set out to discover Ari Atoll and its many internationally renowned dive sites. In particular, you will have the opportunity to dive or snorkel at Mushimasmigili Thila. Once a victim of its own success, this site has been restored to its former glory. You can see grey sharks, white tip sharks, napoleon fish, schools of lutjans or platax and many others. The crew will offer you fishing at the end of the day. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 3: Mushimas Migili - Maaya Thila - Maalhos Thila (North Ari Atoll)
Head to the incredible diving and snorkeling site of Maaya Thila. It is equally suitable for beginners and experienced divers. You will see grey reef sharks, morays, rays... Depending on the weather conditions a night dive will be offered. The light effects make this experience unique. You will also have the opportunity to visit the village of Maalhos Thila. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 4: Maalhos Thila - Panettone - Radhdhiga (Ari South Atoll)
Today the captain takes you to the Panettone dive site. You may be lucky enough to see the fascinating ballet of manta rays. Near the reef you will see schools of damselfish, fusiliers and countless colourful reef fish. You will then head to Radhdhiga and enjoy the beach for a rest under the shade of the palm trees. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5: Radhdhiga - Fenfushi (Southern Ari Atoll)
Take time to enjoy your breakfast facing the immensity of this blue ocean. You will spend the day on the island of Fenfushi. You will have time to explore this small paradise at your own pace. You will discover the way of life of the Maldivians, their houses built with coral stones and one of the oldest mosques in the country. You will find some local shops (coconut sculptures, shell necklaces...) along the way. You can dive in the Hurasdhoo marine reserve. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 6: Fenfushi - Dhangheti (South Ari Atoll)
Your cruise continues to the island of Danghetti. Its colourful village is notably known for the presence of 2 magnificent weeping ficus trees native to Southeast Asia. Here too, you will enjoy the local culture and the long white sandy beaches. The area is also ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 7: Malé
You begin your return sailing to Male. Take advantage of your free time to visit the island's capital. Its historical centre is worth a visit, you will discover the Great Mosque of Malé and the Islamic centre, the National Museum of the Maldives, the Sultan (sublime green garden), the local markets and many others... You can of course enjoy a refreshing break on one of the island's beaches. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 8: Malé Airport
After breakfast, our driver will take you to the airport for your return flight.

Frequently asked questions

  • What documents are required for a trip to the Maldives?

    Visitors must be in possession of a passport, valid for 6 months after the date of return. For a stay of less than 30 days, visitors will be issued a visa free of charge on presentation of: a passport valid for 6 months after the date of return, a valid return ticket from the Maldives and a confirmation of a hotel reservation (or failing that, proof of sufficient resources for the duration of the stay: 100 USD + 50 USD per day).

    This information is subject to change by the authorities of the country visited. It is not unusual for border crossing rules to change. We therefore strongly advise you to refer to the "advice to travellers" section pertinent to your country of origin.
  • How are my transfers between the airport and the boat organised?

    Transfers to and from the airport are included in your service. You will be met at the airport by a driver who will take you to the port. On arrival you will be met by a member of our team who will take you to the boat.

  • How are the meals on board organised?

    During your cruise, you will benefit from the full board formula including: breakfasts, lunches, dinners and softs. These are organised and prepared by the crew. Alcoholic beverages are not included, but can be added at extra cost. Please check the terms and conditions of your quote. Please inform us as soon as possible if you are allergic to certain foods or have a special diet.
  • What is the time difference between UK and the Maldives?

    The time difference between France and the Maldives is +4 hours in summer and +5 hours in winter.
  • What are the payments to be made to confirm my booking ?

    To confirm your booking, you need to inform your GlobeSailor consultant who will hold an option for you until the deposit is received. The booking will only be considered definite once your deposit has been received (by bank transfer, Paypal or credit card), of between 30 and 50% of the booking amount. A 100% deposit will be required for all bookings made within one month of departure. The balance must be paid at the latest 45 days before the date of embarkation.
  • What happens in case of cancellation?

    In case of cancellation, you must inform your GlobeSailor consultant as soon as possible. Whatever the cause, the following cancellation fees will be due: up to 90 days before departure: 30% /// from 89 to 60 days: 50% /// from 60 days to departure: 100% of the amount of your reservation. We advise our clients to subscribe to a cancellation insurance with Ouest Assurance.
