This ship can accommodate 49 passengers in its 25 cabins with sea views (2 category P, 14 category A, 6 category B, and 3 category C). All cabins are air-conditioned (individually controlled) and equipped with a television (local channels only) with DVD player, a mini safe, a mini-refrigerator, a bathroom with shower, hairdryer, and private toilet.

Itinerary of your cruise

Your itinerary follows the banks of the Gambia River, West Africa's iconic waterway. Between fishing villages, ancestral traditions, nature reserves, and UNESCO sites, enjoy a unique immersion in the heart of authentic cultures.

DAY 1: Dakar – Djiffer
Boarding is scheduled between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. aboard the Harmony V at the port of Dakar. You will be welcomed by the crew before enjoying a welcome cocktail, which will give you the opportunity to meet your fellow travelers. The day ends with your first dinner on board, before the boat sets sail south towards the Saloum Delta. Night at sea.

DAY 2: Djiffer– Banjul (Gambia)
You wake up in the heart of the Sine-Saloum Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ecological paradise in southwestern Senegal is home to exceptional biodiversity and more than 200 mangrove islands. Formed by the confluence of the Saloum and Sine rivers, it offers a network of bolongs (creeks) mixing fresh and salt water. On land, take part in an optional excursion to the fishing villages before returning to the boat for lunch. Then head to Gambia, where you will dock in Banjul for an evening with local fishermen. Overnight on board in Banjul.

Optional excursion: visit the villages of Djiffer and Joal Fadiouth, famous for its island of shells used in construction and crafts.

DAY 3: Banjul – Tendaba
Your morning in Banjul will be spent exploring the city and seeing the crocodiles of Bakau on an optional excursion. You will leave Banjul after lunch and enjoy an afternoon on the water as the boat heads for Tendaba. You arrive in the evening and share a typical African evening with all the passengers. Overnight at the dock in Tendaba.

Optional excursion: short tour of Banjul with the Royal Albert Market and the historical museum, then drive to Kachikally, a sacred site with a crocodile pool, a museum, and a botanical garden.

DAY 4: Tendaba
Today you will explore the surroundings of Tendaba on two optional excursions. In the morning, take a pirogue trip to the fishing village of Tendaba, then visit the village of Batelling located at the entrance to Kiang West National Park. Return to the boat for lunch in a safari truck, with stops in local villages. In the afternoon, enjoy a second excursion with another canoe trip to the heart of the Bao Bolong reserve. Overnight at the dock in Tendaba.

Optional excursions:
- Visit the villages of Tendaba and Batelling, at the entrance to Kiang West Park, home to 250 species of birds and animals such as baboons, warthogs, and mongooses.
- Exploration of the Bao Bolong reserve and its six bolongs, offering boat trips and the chance to observe rare birds such as Pel's fishing owl and the brown-necked parrot.


DAY 5: Tendaba - Kuntaur
Early in the morning, the boat leaves Tendaba to travel upriver. Enjoy a peaceful morning of sailing before arriving in Kuntaur after lunch. Optionally, take a motorized canoe cruise (not included) to discover Baboon Island, in the heart of The Gambia National Park. Upon your return, a group of dancers will welcome you with the Kankurang ritual, an iconic mask from Mandinka rites, listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Dinner and overnight stay at the dock in Kuntaur.

Optional excursion: visit Baboon Island with a park ranger. Travel by pirogue to observe the chimpanzee rehabilitation project and try to spot hippos, crocodiles, monkeys, and Gambian birds.

DAY 6: Kuntaur - Kaur
This morning, set off on an optional excursion to Janjanbureh, one of the oldest towns in The Gambia, formerly known as Georgetown. Discover its history, then visit the Lamin Koto School, founded by our partner Variety Cruises. End the morning with a visit to the thousand-year-old megalithic site of Wassu, classified as one of the country's archaeological treasures. After lunch, sail to Kaur, a charming fishing village where you can meet and chat with the locals. In the evening, head for Banjul. Captain's dinner and night at sea.

Optional excursion: departure by bus then ferry to Janjanbureh. Visit iconic sites: the governor's residence, market, Methodist church and its school. Stop at a school in Lamin Koto then discover the megalithic site of Wassu, famous for its stone circles and its UNESCO-listed museum.

DAY 7: Kunta Kinteh Island – Banjul – Dakar (Senegal)
On the way to Banjul, you will stop at Kunta Kinteh Island (formerly Saint James), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic site was an important slave trading post under British rule and became famous thanks to Alex Haley's novel Roots and the story of the slave Kunta Kinteh. An optional guided tour will allow you to discover its past. After lunch, head for Banjul, where you will arrive around 4 p.m. Once the formalities have been completed, the boat will resume its journey towards the ocean. For your last evening on board, enjoy a Gambian atmosphere with a concert featuring the kora, an iconic West African instrument. Night at sea towards Dakar.

Optional excursion: local shuttle ride, followed by a guided walking tour of the island to discover its history. Free time to explore at your own pace.

DAY 8: Dakar (Senegal)
You will reach the capital of Senegal in the early morning and disembark after breakfast at 9 a.m.

Frequently asked questions

  • What documents are required to travel to Senegal and Gambia?

    British and American nationals wishing to travel to Senegal for a stay of less than 3 months must hold a passport valid for more than 6 months. They are exempt from visa requirements.

    For a stay of more than 3 months, a resident card is mandatory and must be requested at the prefecture of the place of residence, from the services of the Directorate of the Foreigners Police and Travel Documents.

    For The Gambia, a short-stay visa is issued free of charge to British and American nationals upon arrival on Gambian territory, including at land border posts.

    The Gambian authorities affix a free of charge short-stay visa to the passport, valid for fifteen days and renewable.

    Travellers using a vehicle registered in Senegal must, upon entry into The Gambia, pay the customs service the amount of the “passavant”, i.e. 100 GMD (approximately €2), for which a receipt is issued.
    Any other request for payment in GMD or FCFA has no legal basis and must be refused.

    An airport tax of 1000 GMD or 20 euros (or 20 US dollars) is required upon entry and upon exit of the country for persons travelling by air (except holders of diplomatic passports).

    Your transfers are not included in your cruise package, but they can be arranged by your Globe Sailor advisor and the base manager by taxi or minibus. Payment for this service is usually made to GlobeSailor when you pay the balance or directly on site in cash. Don't forget to send your arrival times to your advisor.
  • How are meals served on board the boat?

    During your cruise, you will enjoy full board, including breakfast, lunch (buffet), and dinner. Water, tea, and coffee (filter) are available throughout the day. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are not included. Please check the terms and conditions of your quote carefully. Your advisor can provide you with the menus offered on board upon request. They are often prepared using fresh, local produce. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have any food allergies or if you are following a special diet.
  • How do I book an optional excursion?

    When booking your cruise, you can reserve the excursion(s) of your choice in advance. You also have the option of booking once you arrive, subject to availability.
  • What payments do I need to make to confirm my reservation?

    To confirm your reservation, you must inform your GlobeSailor advisor, who will place an option for you while waiting to receive your deposit. The reservation will only be considered final once your deposit (by bank transfer, PayPal, or credit card) of 30 to 50% of the reservation amount has been received. A 100% deposit will be required for any reservation made less than one month before departure. The balance must be paid no later than 60 days before the boarding date.
  • What happens in case of cancellation?

    In case of cancellation, you must notify your GlobeSailor advisor as soon as possible. Regardless of the reason, the following cancellation fees will apply: up to 90 days before departure: 30% /// 89 to 60 days: 50% /// 59 to 30 days: 75% /// 29 days to departure: 100% of the total cost of your booking.
