    Local food

It is important to fully immerse yourself in the local culture and cuisine while on your sailboat charter in Croatia! Here are some speciality dishes:

  • Brodetto is a traditional Dalmatian fish stew made with a variety of fresh fish (like white fish, squid, or octopus) and often mixed with shellfish. The dish is served with polenta or crusty bread. This dish is commonly associated with Šibenik and coastal towns, making it a must-try local specialty.

  • Skradin, a town near Šibenik, is famous for its risotto made with local ingredients such as shellfish, fresh fish, and shrimp. The risotto is cooked slowly, often with the addition of a rich fish stock or wine, resulting in a creamy and flavorful dish.

  • Šibenik Lamb from the Šibenik hinterland, especially from the Krka National Park region, is known for its tender, rich flavor. It is often cooked under a bell-shaped lid (called peka), accompanied by potatoes and vegetables, making it a typical local dish for special occasions.

  • Šibenik Cheese. The Šibenik region is home to high-quality cheeses, especially made from sheep's milk. You can find cheese that’s aged for longer periods, offering deep and tangy flavors.

  • The Šibenik Region is known for producing excellent wines. You can try local varieties like Pošip, a refreshing white wine, and Plavac Mali, a red wine with a rich, robust flavor.
