Itinerary

To avoid the flood of tourists as well as the Meltemi wind, which is particularly strong in the Cyclades during the summer months, GlobeSailor has put together a 7-day itinerary for the Saronic Gulf, enabling you to discover some of the most beautiful gems in the Mediterranean. We are keeping periods of cruising and navigation short, and mostly during the morning, to allow you to make the most of bathing in the sea, the stops and the local culture. This cruise will keep everybody happy!

Day 1: Athens to Aegina Island (20 miles)
2pm: Boarding. Meeting point is pontoon 9, place 915-916 at the Alimos marina.
Your team will welcome you aboard with a drink and then you will be briefed by the skipper. Once all the party has arrived, you will raise the anchor to sail up to Aegina island, one of the biggest and most historic maritime trading centres in ancient Greece. The island is known for its pistachio nuts, fishermen ports and villages, which are surrounded by stunning beaches, as well as its famous Afea temple. Evening dinner will be on board the boat.

Day 2: Egine to Ermioni (36 miles)
The following day, you will leave Aegina and set sail for the south towards Ermioni. This will be the longest cruise of the week. You will stop off at the Kelevini islands for lunch and for a swim. In the evening, take a stroll around Ermioni, a little fishing village in the east of Peloponnese which is known for its traditions, culture, beaches and lively cafes.

Day 3: Ermioni to Spetses (11 miles)
After breakfast, you will sail several miles towards Zogeria beach, in the north-west of Spetses. You will disembark at Spetses port after a lunch which will be served on board. Even from the port, the incredible charm of the island is clear, with its taverns and walks along the cobbled alleys and side streets which are sheltered from the port.

Day 4: Spetses to Dokos (12 miles)
Breakfast at Spetses. Set sail eastwardly towards Dokos. Dokos is a rural island which has been kept totally preserved from tourism. This is a spot adored by sailors; its idyllic anchorages, like Skintos bay, will make for a charming stop. Get out your snorkelling gear because the sea bed and marine life is amazing here!

Day 5: Dokos to Hydra (7 miles)
In the morning, you will sail towards the famous island, Hydra. Hydra is one of the most beautiful Grecian islands. No need for a car, everything can be reached by donkey! After visiting the port, don’t hesitate to wander around the surrounding mountainous areas, reach for the sky and make the most of the splendid views of the Peloponnese. A guided tour of the area (1h30m) will be organised with a local resident to help you gain a deeper understanding of the history of the island and its place in ancient Greece.

Day 6: Hydra to Poros (13 miles)
Swim in the morning and then have lunch onboard. You will reach Poros by afternoon. This mountainous island on the Saronic Gulf is very pleasant with green hills, vibrant taverns and a fish market. We would recommend that you climb the Clock Tower to enjoy fantastic views of the Gulf and its sailboats.

Day 7: Poros to Athens (33 miles)
On the last day of your cruise, you will stay around Poros for lunch and a final swim. You will reach Athens by late-afternoon. We would recommend that you visit the old town during the evening to visit the Acropolis and its archaeological gems.

Day 8: Athens - Marina Alimos
9am: Disembark after breakfast.

Your stops :

Athens > Aegina > Ermioni > Spetses > Dokos > Hydra > Poros > Athens
