Exquisite Cuisine

There are many reasons to book a yacht charter in Mykonos. However, if glorious weather, turquoise water, or beautiful beaches don’t tempt you –the food will! Come to this divine destination to indulge in delicious Greek treats. Greek food is some of the best cuisines in Europe, if not the world! Treat yourself daily to fresh seafood, feta cheese, gyros, tzatzikis, and olives. There are many great restaurants scattered across the island to choose from. Head to Kiki’s Tavern or Scorpios Restaurant to enjoy a tasty meal.

Top things to see & do

As you arrive on this scenic Cyclades island, instantly spot the iconic windmills as you approach the harbour. Built in the 16th century by the Venetians to mill wheat, many magnificent structures are no longer running. However, today some are used as private residences, and one is even a museum. You will find many windmills scattered across the island, but the most famous are those located in the town of Chora. Not far from here, you will find the charming town known as Little Venice. Little Venice is a neighbourhood where old colourful houses are perched on the seashore's edge offering enchanting views. The island is said to be home to over 400 churches, the oldest dating back to 1425! During your yacht charter in Mykonos, visit Paraportiani Church, the most photographed and popular church of them all. This exquisite architectural treasure is five smaller churches joined together. For sailors interested in art and history, stop at the Archeologic Museum. You will find many pieces from the Prehistoric to the Hellenistic period. Navigate your boat rental to the northwestern tip of the island. Here, you will find the beautiful Armenistis Lighthouse. This structure has been instrumental in helping vessels avoid colliding with the rocky coast. Its location also offers one of the best spots on the island to enjoy spectacular sunset views.

Sailing Conditions

Come enjoy fabulous weather on a yacht charter in Mykonos! Blessed with a Mediterranean climate, summers are long and hot, while winters remain mild. Water temperatures maintain a pleasant temperature for swimming until October. Blue skies, plenty of sunshine, and warm temperatures make for the perfect cruise. Sailing the Aegean Sea during the summer can be a little difficult for those without experience. The Meltemi winds cause navigation to be less predictable as the winds tend to be strong, and waves are choppy. For seasoned sailors, this can be a thrilling destination to sail in. However, beginners may want to consider renting a boat with a skipper.

Getting to your boat rental

Mykonos is a well-connected destination and one of the easiest Greek islands. There are numerous options to arrive either by plane or by boat. The airport is located only 4km from the main town. This airport accommodates daily flights from Athens and various international airports. Get a taxi from the airport to the port nearby, where your yacht charter awaits. Daily ferries are also offered from ports in Thessaloniki, Crete, Cyclades Islands, and Dodecanese Islands.

Chartering a Boat

GlobeSailor has an incredible fleet of yachts, catamarans, motorboats and luxury yachts to offer you for rental. Our boats range in length, size and year of manufacture, and the number of cabins and berths to accommodate your preferences. Choose the boat of your dreams, which fits your and your crew's needs and spend a week or two sailing around on the trip of a lifetime! You can also choose between renting a bareboat charter and a crewed charter (meaning hiring a skipper and crew). Our crewed option for a boat rental can be the best choice if you don't have much sailing knowledge but still want the independence of chartering a boat. Your skipper or captain will take care of the navigation, and the hostess/cook will ensure that your vacation week is at the luxury level. Your hired crew will have their own private cabins, meaning there's plenty of space on your boat for everyone!

Our experienced crews can take care of all the details, leaving you and your guests to do all the relaxing in the sun! Whatever type of boat rental you're looking for, GlobeSailor can help you find it!

One of the best things about a yacht charter in Greece is its flexibility. You can make the most of your day by choosing your own itinerary and touring the places that interest you the most, whether you want to island hop, explore the coastline, or both. It's entirely up to you how you spend your holiday, and sometimes, there's nothing better than relaxing in the sun on your private deck or one of the cabins while having an excellent book to read!

Whether you're looking for a relaxing holiday or an action-packed adventure, sailing in Greece has something to offer everyone. And visiting Athens is a must-do while on a sailing trip in Greece; it perfectly blends ancient history and modern culture.

Sailing Conditions in Greece

Greece has long been a haven for sailors from all over the world. The consistent trade winds, all-year-round sunshine and warm weather of Greece present optimal conditions for a yacht charter, in addition to the easy navigation by sight due to the close proximity of all the islands. Both novice and experienced sailors will find something to suit them, with milder winds and safer bays in the Saronic Gulf, Sporades Islands and the Ionian Sea for those less confident, and stronger winds in the Aegean Sea to give a nice challenge for the pros!

Sailing in the Cyclades is not for the faint-hearted. Due to the force of the Meltemi winds during the summer months, navigation can be tricky, and waves can be choppy. If you’re a beginner, don’t let this stop you from exploring these stunning islands, you could consider renting your yacht with a skipper on board so that you can enjoy all the wonders of sailing without any of the stress of navigation!

Sailing Bareboat or with a Crew

Sailing with or without a skipper is a personal preference and depends on several factors, such as experience, comfort level, and budget. Suppose you are an experienced sailor with a good understanding of navigation. In that case, yacht charters without a skipper (also called bareboat) can be a rewarding adventure, as it provides more freedom and flexibility to explore the destination at your own pace. When you charter a yacht bareboat, you are in charge of everything, and you are the captain of the boat! However, if you are a beginner or prefer a more relaxed sailing holiday, sailing with a skipper is the best option. A skipper is like the captain of the ship, and they can provide guidance, share their local knowledge, and ensure the safety of the crew and the yacht.

There is also an option to have a hostess or a cook on board GlobeSailor yachts. A hostess is responsible for making two of the daily meals (usually breakfast and lunch) and will take care of the boat's upkeep (tidying up common areas etc.). A cook is responsible for making all three meals on board the boat. Both crewed options allow clients to eat Italian-inspired dishes aboard a beautiful sailboat. Some guests prefer to choose the hostess option as it allows them to sail to a different marina each night and find the best authentic Greek restaurants on land.

Choosing the Perfect Boat to Rent

Regarding yacht rental, the options can seem overwhelming! At GlobeSailor, we have boats of all shapes and sizes for you to rent. Our yachts range in length, cabins, berths, boat model, when they were built, add-ons such as a dinghy or water sports equipment, and of course, price.

Your choice of cabins will vary depending on the sailboat or catamaran you choose. Usually, cabins will be single or doubles, meaning they can accommodate one or two people. There are also double cabins for individual use available on some boats, which is a cabin option for one guest who wishes to have more space aboard the yacht.

We offer guests a choice between a sailboat, catamaran, power boat, luxury yacht, gulet or even houseboat! The choices are endless!

Most guests choose either a sailboat or a catamaran to rent. Both boats have unique characteristics to satisfy the varying needs of clients.

A monohull or a sailboat is a traditional boat with one hull (mono!). It is focused on performance and offers sailors the traditional sailing experience. Many sailors like the traditional feel of a monohull. A monohull might be best for you if you fancy yourself a true captain of the seas! GlobeSailor has many boat rentals for our guests to choose from, including popular models like Oceanis or DuFour Grand Large.

Catamarans have more than one hull. The multihull of a catamaran offers its guests more stability as it the boat is equipped to rock less against the ocean waves. A catamaran is also more spacious than a monohull. Catamarans usually range from 30 feet to 60 feet, with the average length being around 45 feet. Catamarans have less heeling (tilting) than monohulls, providing passengers a more comfortable and stable ride. Catamarans also have a shallower draft, which means they can sail in waters with a low tide and get closer to shore. The GlobeSailor catamaran fleet is massive, offering guests options for whatever charters they have in mind. Popular models such as the Lagoon 46 and the Bali 4.5.

Book a Cabin Cruise in Mykonos

If you're unsure what yacht charter you would like, don't forget that GlobeSailor also offers guests the opportunity to book a cabin cruise!

We have many cruises available for your group: sailboat, catamaran or gulet in a private cabin with board and excursions included. A vacation along the coast of the Hellenic country is one of the most demanded cabin cruises and receives rave reviews every year. Even if you are not an expert in navigation, a private cabin cruise includes the experience of living closely with the ins and outs of crewing the ship for the week.

If your ideal vacation day consists of relaxing on the deck of a ship in sunny Mykonos, then a GlobeSailor cruise is a thing for you! The cruise price may often seem higher than usual, but this includes a paid skipper and crew to take care of all your cruise needs. Under the care of a professional skipper, the yacht or catamaran will be managed expertly. Allowing cabin cruise passengers to fully focus on discovering Greece in all its glory. Cruises with a skipper are also an opportunity to visit the many places of interest that their itinerary provides. Each stop at a port during the cruise offers many sightseeing or relaxation activities. Allowing you to make the most of your vacation in Greece. So don't worry about how many days your cruise lasts because the itinerary is designed so that no places of interest are missed!

You will have all the comforts in your private cabin without worrying about anything. The crew will prepare the food with traditional gastronomic flavours, which are included in the full board, and you will also benefit from the luxury of having your private cabin cleaned regularly.
