The crew at Marina Ploče is exceptionally warm and friendly. The marina is small, but if someone doesn't like crowds and nighttime noise, it's an ideal place. Free parking is available. The marina also has a beautiful 41' "automated" yacht for seasoned skippers. Toilet and shower facilities are available at the Marina Ploče Sailing office at any time, about 200 meters from the pier. One must consider, not necessarily as a downside, that Ploče is quite far south of Split, where the highway turns towards Bosnia, Međugorje. However, this makes it a very good base for car trips to Međugorje, Mostar, and Dubrovnik. Additionally, there are often ferries to Trpanj across the bay to the Pelješac peninsula. One should take into account when planning the cruise that the winds in the bay do not blow as we would like. For example, I had winds in my face all the way to the end of the Pelješac peninsula and had to motor from 2 PM, barely making it to the anchorage in Lovište before nightfall. The wind was blowing at 18 knots/hour. So it's better to set out earlier. The course to Korčula in the morning is easy.
