Miles and training trip

The San Miguel Marina is strategically located near Tenerife South Airport, about 20 taxi minutes and 15 EUR. We arrived at the marina at 11:00. The handover was scheduled for 17:00, but we were allowed to leave our luggage at the office upon arrival. The base staff were very competent and friendly, speaking native German and Spanish, but of course also good English.

We were able to board the ship at 16:00. It was spotlessly clean and pleasant to be on the ship. There are a few age-related cosmetic limitations, but one must also consider the very affordable charter price. I prefer an older, functional, clean ship over one of the brand new, resin-smelling ships that would cost twice as much.

There were a few requests we had, but the base staff were able to support us excellently.

The ship is very well equipped with three reefs for the Canary Islands. You can easily go into the strong wind zones with the ship and the very good safety equipment. The ship is fast, handy, and reliable. I will charter here again and can highly recommend it to others.

Alex and team looked after us well at the marina. Definitely booking again.

Taster trip with sailing beginners

Our reception at the base was excellent: we were able to check in (and out) in the morning instead of the evening; when we arrived, the base was staffed, and the boat was handed over to us in detail. We even received tips and advice for route planning, and we briefly went through the onboard cruising guide to add personal notes.

At least our boat was equipped with basic supplies - salt, pepper, oil, coffee, sugar, coffee maker, toilet paper, kitchen roll, kitchen towels - very convenient if you are not traveling by car. Inside the boat (wood, etc.), you could see the age of the ship a bit; there were also some scratches on the outside in insignificant places - but this did not bother us while sailing at all. On the last sailing day, the GPS did not work; since we only had a short distance to cover and could sail "by sight," we did not need to consult the nautical chart or address the problem ourselves. All in all, the boat was very well equipped.

We had a small incident during the sailing trip (a rope caught in the propeller). The sailing base supported us excellently and organized a solution through existing contacts.

We liked the marina in Las Galletas (Marina del Sur) for its sanitary facilities, friendly staff, and the atmosphere of the adjacent harbor promenade; the marina in San Miguel (starting base) is very easy to reach from the airport; there are plenty of parking options here.

Very good week

Everything was very satisfactory: welcome, preparation, assistance from the rental team, destination.
The boat, from 2012, was in fairly good condition despite its age. All the important navigation equipment was functional and proved to be reliable.
A small downside regarding cleanliness at boarding, which some crew members found average.
