Spring sailing - no other yacht in sight

We took the chance to go and sail in early April, having postponed our charter several times due to COVID. We'd like to thank the charter company for their uncomplicated approach to shifting the charter till we could make it.
Once there, check-in was a pleasant and quick experience, surely also owning to the fact that there was no one else getting a yacht on that day.
Cruising during this time of year offers the experience of solitude and of more extreme weather conditions (including snow capped mountains). Be prepared and bring warm gear and hot drinks!
We were also very happy to get a yacht with a built in heating system, which was very thoughtful of the charter company.

Last but not least: beware of the Bora wind and always have a selection of alternate anchorages ready if the weather turns foul :-)

The Garmin navigation was not working and very old. The display was defect from the start and it simply did not lid up.
I have chartered boats many time in Croatia and it seems there are always something not working. Do not flag that is comes with Navigation if it doesn't work.

Le bateau que nous avons loué (bavaria cruiser 30) avait une vingtaine d'année mais il était globalement un bon état. Tout ce qui avait trait à la sécurité fonctionnait correctement et le bateau était très propre. Quelques éléments n'étaient pas fonctionnels à 100% : table du carré pas horizontale d'un côté, idem pour la table extérieure, plus de rideau à l'intérieur, impossibilité de régler le thermostat du frigo car bouton cassé ce qui a conduit à plusieurs cycle de gel dégel de nos aliments...Le brief du bateau est très rapide mais l'employé à quand même pris le temps de répondre à toute nos questions.

Die Marina in Punat ist ein sehr schöner Stützpunkt. Der Vercharterer ist sehr freundlich und hat einen guten Service. Unser Boot war zwar neu, es haben aber an ein paar Kleinigkeiten gefehlt. Wie z.B. Sonnenschutzrollos und Fliegengitter in den Luken. Auch gab es keine 12 V Steckdose, wo man nochmal eine Kühlbox hätte anschließen können. Das Boot hat einen großen Salon aber eine sehr kleine Küche, wo ein Arbeiten mit zwei Personen nicht möglich ist. Von Punat aus, kann man schöne Ziele, wie die Insel Rab und Cres anfahren.
