Three Reasons to Charter a Catamaran in Split

1. Stunning Coastline

Split is home to an enchanting, rugged coastline with stunning archipelagos best explored by boat. With breathtaking coastal mountains, national parks, lush forest and sapphire waters, Split’s range of landscapes makes for an idyllic destination for a catamaran charter. There is a choice of 13 charter bases across the region from which you can rent a boat, including Trogir and Marina Kastela on the mainland and bases on the islands of Hvar and Brač, so you will not be short of choice!

2. Cruising Climate

Conditions for sailing are enviable in Split. With a Mediterranean climate providing sunny, blue skies, dry, hot weather and mild winds; the climate is designed for a catamaran charter. Though winds generally range between 10-20 knots, sailors should be aware of potential stronger gusts of the Bora, Jugo and Maestral winds, but generally between April and October, you could not find better navigation conditions than in Croatia! As the jewel of the Dalmatian coast - in terms of scenery, culture, history, cuisine and sailing facilities – Split the perfect destination for a catamaran rental.

3. Island life

Croatia is home to over 1000 islands, and a catamaran charter from Split gives you access to some of the very best! If you’re looking for magnificent beaches, head to Brač, the home of Croatia’s most photographed beach: Zlatni Rat. This island is hugely popular due to its array of golden sands, ink-blue waters, dramatic cliffs and fragrant pine forests, where you can do anything from diving to climbing to windsurfing to mountain biking! Brač is buzzing with culture and life, so drop anchor and go and explore the stone villages scattered between the endless orchards of olive, fig, cherry and almond. Maybe you’re looking for some swish and style, in which case Hvar is the island for you! You’ll be mingling with an A-list crowd, drinking in chic waterfront bars, dining in exquisite seafood restaurants and mooring your catamaran in polished harbours. That’s not to say that it isn’t another island of incredible natural beauty; it’s veiled with endless lavender fields, vineyards and pebbly coves, and despite its popularity, there is still room to explore the local charm and find a moment of peace on the sunniest island in Europe!

Eating and Drinking in Split…

Split is a culinary haven… especially if you’re a fan of seafood! This means a catamaran charter here is a real treat as you’ll get to eat and drink delicious, fresh produce every day. There are countless restaurants and bars around in which to eat and drink your evenings away, and if you’re looking for upmarket, exquisite food in a stylish setting, try Restaurant Dvor. Located 20 minutes from Split’s old town, the restaurant has a beautiful garden terrace with stunning ocean views, and though rather pricey, the food is incredible. For somewhere slightly more relaxed, try out the Tavern Fetivi, a small, family-run place near the harbour, serving up local and traditional specialties – especially seafood, in a friendly, cozy atmosphere! If you’re looking to experience the best of Croatia’s wines, head to Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar, which is a modern, chic bar located in the old town, with over 100 different wines on offer.

Brač Beaches

People travel from all over Europe to visit the world-famous Zlatni Rat beach located in the city of Bol, on the island of Brač. This unique slither of pebbly beach stretches out into translucent turquoise waters, giving incredible panoramic views, and is backed by the Vidova Gora mountains. A catamaran charter in Split will allow you to explore famous beaches like this, and in the same day sail off to a more secluded natural area like pristine Povlja, where deep bays make it a popular spot for swimming. If you’re looking for classic golden sand beaches, the idyllic Lovrečina Bay will be your haven: translucent, shallow, blue waters and a soft, sandy shoreline is bordered by thick pine forest and an ancient church… it’s a slice of wild paradise.

Getting There

Split Airport is the second busiest airport in Croatia, located 24km from the city, in the town of Kaštela. If you wish, transfers from the airport to your catamaran charter base can be organized (at an extra cost).
