The boat, an Abaco 21 with a 150 horsepower engine, was in good condition and well equipped. The Caribbean Sea is very choppy except along the leeward coasts. The boat does not anchor and its fuel consumption is very reasonable. We were well received both on the way out and on the return. For refueling, it is advisable to return around 4:30 PM to the pump at the Marina du Bas du Fort to avoid a long wait starting at 5 PM. We left the boat for 4 nights at the Marina de Saint François, good reception, good location easy to access, and very reasonable prices.

Pointe à Pitre

Pointe à Pitre

Bathed by the Caribbean Sea, Pointe-a-Pitre is the main port town of Guadeloupe placed at the heart of the island between Grande Terre and Basse-Terre. Point-a-Pitre is renowned for the Route du Rhum Race, which takes its origin in Saint Malo. Pointe a Pitre, in the middle of the Caribbean is the favourite destination of boaters who love idyllic beaches, crystal clear, blue sea and breathtaking underwater scenery. While calling at Pointe-a-Pitre it is worth exploring the western part of Guadeloupe with its tropical forests.
