We are three couples of friends who decided to visit Croatia for 15 days to celebrate our 20, 20, and 35 years of life together. We had a very interesting first part on land with an excursion to Montenegro (the Bay of Kotor) and visited the cities of Dubrovnik, Split, and Trogir in particular. Then we boarded the schooner in Zadar to explore the Zadar archipelago with an inland trip to Skradin to enjoy the beauty of Krka National Park (waterfalls). Regarding the rental of the schooner:
The contacts with Emeric from GlobeSailor by phone and with Ante from the rental base (by email in English) were always easy, simple, and very efficient.
The welcome at boarding was warm, and the interactions with the Captain (the boat owner) and his "deckhand" were cordial and rich in pleasant exchanges for everyone (in English). A bit more information about the history and daily life of Croatians would have been appreciated.
The Nevijana is a well-renovated schooner with modern amenities (Wi-Fi, air conditioning), skillfully piloted by a captain who knows the area very well since his early childhood. The crew was cheerful, available, always full of kindness and attention towards us. The food was very good, and we appreciated that local dishes were offered to us (that was our choice). Dining outside the boat posed no problems, even in the smallest villages.
For those who have never been on a boat of this size, be aware that the cabins are cramped, particularly one cabin with storage lockers above the head (not photographed in the presentation while another cabin is shown twice) and you might be bothered by a persistent smell of fuel, although everything is done to avoid this inconvenience. Nothing too serious because beyond this aspect, it is very pleasant to stay on deck as much as possible.
Another anomaly that I ask GlobeSailor to correct is that there are only 2 bathrooms/toilets to share with the crew and not 3 as indicated in the presentation.
In general, we are very satisfied with our rental. Personally, I fell in love with this crew composed of a brother and sister who took us off the classic circuits and made us appreciate Croatian dishes (appetizers, main courses, desserts, and wines).
A wonderful week of vacation punctuated by magnificent landscapes and rich in human contacts!
