We had a fabulous week on the boat - we found the charter company (Marco) very helpful. The Island of Elba was a lovely destination although some of the Marinas were closed this late in the season. Easy sailing, helpful marinas and great places to visit. I would highly recommend this company and destination.

the local Charter service was excellent, From when we arrived at the marina until we left they were very professional. The boat was like new and the captain was amazing. Over 2 weeks we went to Elba, Corsica, Sardinia and Giglio...an itinerary that exceeded our [already high] expectations! The Dufour 48 is a very comfortable and good looking cat. We would use this Charter operator again without hesitation.

We sailed (the name made some of the local Italian speakers grin for some reason) out from Punta Ala and around the island of Elba. It's a beautiful area, with rich culture, good food, and incredibly friendly people. The boat is well appointed for a bareboat charter and easy to sail. The cabin is clean and free of strange smells. the heads work great, although Italian law allows all boats to flush directly into the water, which is curious given the boat traffic. The galley is spacious and easy to use. The cockpit can comfortably fit 6 people for dinner and a few more for cocktails. The team at the charter company was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Even through a language barrier they answered all our questions and helped us figure out where to stay overnight. The quirks: We could not figure out how to turn off the radar alarm if we wanted the depth gauge on. Not helpful when navigating a new anchorage with dozens of other boats! The gangway is awkwardly rigged off to the side and doesn't fit into the original fitting on the transom. Both of these are minimal. Overall this boat was a pleasure to sail, comfortable to spend time in with friends (we all a little older now and not willing to camp in a boat), and in a perfect location for cruising.

If you have a group of friends and you want a good cruise , "Keba" - Sun Odyssey 44i - is the yacht for you, and Parallelo 45 the company (friendly/on the ball/super efficient.) you can fly into Pisa Aeroporto,take the shuttle to Pisa Centrale station, and the Trenitalia train all along the coast to Follonica, then a short taxi ride or bus to Marina di Scarlino. It's a 16 nmls sail to Elba (Porto Azzuro, Rio Marina (less touristy), Porto Ferrario (berthing 66e) , & Marciana Marina (anchored off) - all superb and very "Italian". 22nmls NW to Capairia ( small and pretty with an impressive fortress) but berthing here was 85 e !) then on to the Old Harbour at Bastia rather than Marina Togo 1km to the north. If you have time, go to Maccinagio as well We were blessed with good warm weather and winds. Keba sails very well (8-9 its on a reach) - she is roomy - she can take 9 at a pinch. Everything is well set up and works. The electric winch saves a lot of effort. Swim from the yacht of course. Good fridge & cooking facilities -we had 2 chefs on board. Gin and tonic and local wine just slipped down.
