Fly to one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world, the Tuamotus. This little corner of paradise, made up entirely of atolls (islands formed by coral reefs surrounding a lagoon), is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, north-east of Tahiti. You will sail aboard a modern and spacious catamaran, skippered by a professional crew. You will discover Rangiroa, the second largest atoll in the world, Tikehau with its endless white sandy beaches, and Makatea with its incredible cliffs. Each stop will be an opportunity to explore the seabed, paddle or kayak around the atolls.

Your Boat

Boat
Come aboard a pleasant Lagoon 620, a 19-metre catamaran, equipped with a large saloon with a panoramic view and comfortable bench seats. You will enjoy your meals in the cockpit, allowing you to be protected from the sun while enjoying the view. The trampolines at the front of the boat and the sundeck are perfect for relaxing while sailing. Get some height by joining the skipper on the flybridge, the perfect place to take some great photos. Finally, the wide aft skirts make it easy to get out to sea!

Itinerary

Map
Ready to embark on your catamaran to discover the Tuamotu archipelago and its sublime atolls? Your skipper has prepared the ideal itinerary for snorkelling in crystal clear waters.
DAY 1: Rangiroa (approx. 1h30 sailing time)
The crew will be waiting for you at 12:00 in the port of Ohotu for your boarding. After dropping your luggage in your cabin and taking a tour of the boat, you will have lunch. The skipper will then cast off for Reef Island. You will spend your afternoon diving in a turquoise sea, kayaking or paddle boarding. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 2: Rangiroa (approx. 4h30 sailing time)
The skipper hoists the sails at dawn and sets sail for the blue lagoon. This is a great place to swim and explore the sea bed. You will then anchor near the bird island where you will be able to observe some magnificent specimens. After lunch, sail to the village of Avatoru. You will discover the Polynesian culture and local products such as raw fish, wine, honey... Dinner and overnight at anchor.

DAY 3: Rangiroa - Tikehau (about 5 hours sailing)
You sail towards the atoll of Tikehau, located east of Rangiroa. You can enjoy the crossing to relax or admire the view from the flybridge. On arrival, the hostess will prepare lunch while you jump into the water to freshen up. The afternoon will be spent snorkelling through incredible coral gardens and kayaking or paddle boarding. Dinner and overnight at anchor.

DAY 4: Tikehau - Makatea (approx. 1 hour sailing time)
The skipper takes you to the centre of the lagoon, where you can snorkel and swim with manta rays. After lunch, you will visit the main village of the atoll, Tuherahera. You'll love the peacefulness, the colourful houses surrounded by small churches and the coconut oil and soap factory. You will have dinner at the Tikehau pass, very popular with snorkelers. Tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, leopard rays, etc. can be seen here. You will sail at night to reach Makatea.

DAY 5: Makatea
This morning, you take time to enjoy your breakfast while admiring Makatea, an atoll with steep cliffs that was once coveted for its phosphate deposits. You will have the day free to explore at your leisure. You can walk along the cliffs, lounge on the beach, swim, paddle, etc. Dinner and overnight at anchor.

DAY 6: Makatea - Rangiroa
Today you will have the choice between a free morning dedicated to water sports (kayaking, paddle and snorkeling) or an optional excursion to visit Makatea. Accompanied by a guide, you will explore the interior of the island by 4x4 and visit the old phosphate mining caves. You will also have the chance to share a local lunch before returning to the ship and enjoying some free time. Dinner and then overnight sailing to Rangiroa.

Day 7: Rangiroa
On arrival in Rangiroa, you make a stop in the charming village of Tiputa. Here again, the Polynesians will give you a warm welcome and will be delighted to chat with you. The many gardens will allow you to stroll peacefully. As an option, we propose a barbecue lunch on a private motu. You will then have the whole afternoon to enjoy the Tiputa natural aquarium and swim with a myriad of fish (manta rays, turtles, black tip sharks, etc.). Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 8: Rangiroa
Your disembarkation in Ohotu harbour is scheduled after breakfast, around 8am.

Rangiroa > Tikehau > Makatea > Rangiroa

FAQ

For French nationals and for a stay of less than 3 months, all you need is a valid passport, valid for another 6 months after your return date. Please note: in case of a stopover in the United States, it is necessary to check that the passport meets American standards. If you are transiting through or to the United States, you must present an electronic travel authorisation, the ESTA (approximately 14 USD per person). Please note that you must provide the same information as on your passport and travel documents.
This information is subject to change by the authorities of the country visited. It is not unusual for border crossing rules to change. We therefore strongly advise you to refer to the "advice to travellers" section of the France Diplomatie website: https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/conseils-aux-voyageurs/
Nationals of other countries should contact the consulate of their country of origin for information on formalities.
Your air tickets can be booked by the GlobeSailor team. You just need to specify this to your consultant when booking your cruise.
Your transfers are not included in your cruise package. If you wish, your GlobeSailor consultant can help you organise them. Please contact your GlobeSailor consultant for more information.
All the skippers we offer are registered and have the necessary professional certificates. They speak English fluently. The skipper is in charge of the navigation and your safety on board. Do not hesitate to participate in the manoeuvres with him, he will be delighted to teach you the basics of navigation. The skipper and the hostess/cook sleep on the boat (either in the saloon or in cabins).
The boarding fund includes the following elements:
  • Payment of taxes in the national parks
  • Tourist and landing taxes in the islands
  • Anchoring and mooring fees at certain ports of call
  • The cost of any additional supplies of: fresh water, fuel, gas, fresh produce...
To confirm your booking, you must inform your GlobeSailor advisor who will place an option for you to collect your deposit. The booking will only be considered definite once your deposit has been received (by bank transfer, Paypal or credit card), of between 30% and 50% of the booking amount. A 100% deposit will be required for all bookings made within one month of departure. The balance must be paid at the latest 45 days before the date of embarkation.
In case of cancellation, you must notify your GlobeSailor consultant as soon as possible. Whatever the cause, the following cancellation fees will be due: up to 90 days before departure: 25% /// from 89 to 60 days: 50% /// from 59 to 30 days: 75% /// from 29 days to departure: 100% of your booking.
We advise our clients to subscribe to a cancellation insurance with Ouest Assurance : http://www.ouest-assurances.fr
