Why rent a catamaran in Turkey?

1. Paradise landscapes

Turkey is a country of magnificent cities, mountains, valleys, beaches and even rainforests. The flora and fauna are breathtakingly beautiful and equally diverse. Turkey is not only a popular vacation destination, but also home to exceptional biodiversity. If you start your catamaran charter in Turkey from Kaş, be sure to anchor at Kaputaş Beach, 10 miles west of the city. The pristine, golden sandy beach of the stunning bay is sheltered between two cliffs. If you charter between Antalya and Fethiye, the Lycian Way offers breath taking views of the turquoise sea and the surrounding mountains, so much so that the Sunday Times named it one of the ten most beautiful hiking trails in the world.

2. Ideal sailing conditions

Turkey is a wonderful destination to charter a catamaran. With the temperate Mediterranean climate (constant temperatures between 25 and 29 degrees), a sailing trip in this country is a revelation. Between April and November, sailing conditions are ideal with glorious rays of sunshine, perfect for exploring the Turkish coast. From October, the winds, and therefore the swell, become calmer, ideal for less experienced sailors.

3. Delight in Turkish cuisine

Turkey's geographical location between Europe and Asia also influences the cuisine in many ways. When you rent a catamaran in Turkey, you will have the opportunity to taste these multifaceted Eurasian dishes. Let yourself be enchanted by the variety of spices, the fresh and tasty vegetables and fruits, and the famous meat and fish dishes. Don't miss out on manti, small roasted beef or lamb dumplings served with a refreshing yoghurt sauce. And for dessert, what could be better than fresh baklava - probably the most famous specialty in Turkey!

Fascinating history and culture

Of course, you will have the opportunity to do more than sail during your catamaran charter in Turkey. Turkey is a great destination if you are a fan of history or deeply interested in unfamiliar cultures. Rich with numerous Roman ruins and ancient remains, there is much to explore. If you rent a boat in Theos, you should take the time to discover this ancient city that dates back 4000 years and was once part of the 12 cities of the Ionian Confederation. If you happen to pass by Antalya during your catamaran charter in Turkey, visit the old town, the famous Hadrian’s Gate, the sand dunes at Patara Beach, and the Antalya Archaeological Museum.

24 hours in Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the most impressive destinations in Turkey to explore by boat. So, when you start your sailing adventure here, be sure to leave plenty of time to explore the city's best sights before setting sail! Here is an example of how you might spend a day in Turkey's most exciting city:

Morning: After breakfast, head to the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. This enormous market houses around 4000 stores, so there will be plenty of choices for you to find the perfect souvenir, or just to admire the fascinating selection of beautiful handmade goods!

Lunch: We recommend stopping by Serbethane Café & Restaurant, where you can indulge in traditional Turkish cuisine that is served in a charming, rustic setting.

Afternoon: After sampling a delicious lunch, visit the Basilica Cistern, a huge underground church built in the 16th century. From here, it is a 10-minute walk to Topkapi Palace, which was built in the 15th century and occupied by the Ottoman sultans but is now open to the public as a museum. Depending on how much time you wish to spare, you can also take a walk in the beautiful neighbouring Gülhane Park, which is the oldest park in Istanbul.

Dinner: Prepare yourself to indulge your tastebuds in culinary delights – A catamaran charter in Turkey will please you with Eurasian-influenced specialties. A little tip from us is to try out the Neyzade Restaurant, as it is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. The dishes have a modern element and style, while the flavours and recipes are rooted in Turkish tradition.

Getting there

Regardless of your chosen charter base in Turkey, you will never be far from an international airport! A frequently used airport is Istanbul Ataturk Airport, located 24 km west of Istanbul. Transfers from the airport to the marina can be arranged upon request - just ask your GlobeSailor advisor in advance. If you fly into Dalaman Airport, you can easily get to Marmaris or Fethiye and start your sailing adventure from there!
