First assessment of the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma on the boat rental fleets

Following Hurricane Irma, GlobeSailor wishes to express our support and friendship for the entire population affected by this tragedy and especially for the personnel of the rental bases, in particular the bases of Saint Martin (Marigot, Lonvilliers, Oyster Pond), Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and the port of Gustavia in Saint Barthélémy. More than 80% of the boats were destroyed, only a few luxurious units (Lagoon 620, Ipanema 58, ...) could be salvaged. The damage is, therefore, considerable on these three islands and we will do our best to find the best alternative solutions for our customers. Boats are already on their way to be added to these bases and to renew the fleet. Each customer whose departures were planned this winter will be contacted by our customer service. Do not hesitate to contact us at +44 (0) 20 3695 6438 Fortunately, the bases of Nassau and Marsh Harbor in the Bahamas were spared, because Hurricane Irma moved further south and west. All departures from these bases are thus planned to go on without change. Our base in Key West, south of the Florida Keys was also damaged by gusts of more than 150km / h but the first news we have received is encouraging as only slight damage has occurred on several boats but all rentals from October forward are to remain untouched.
