Yachting tourism in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur has evolved over the last decade and the region has now turned out to be a two-faceted maritime region:
On the one hand you have the calanques, unspoilt coves, wild and charming areas or even the Porquerolles islands.
On the other hand you get the seaside resorts and luxury yachts. In this region, you will get to see gatherings of the most beautiful classical sailboats of Europe when attending events and regattas such as the Regates Royales de Cannes, Voiles de Saint-Tropez or Voiles d’Antibes. The PACA region is therefore a very popular destination for upmarket nautical tourism. It welcomes no less than half of the world’s yacht fleet, which is a great asset for the local economy and for the quality of nautical services.

Sailing Conditions in PACA:

The region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The best time to navigate is between April and October when weather conditions are better and temperatures are ideal. During the summer season, the temperature difference between land and sea gives rise to a moderate south-south-west sea breeze in the day, and a lighter one blowing from the north-north-east at night.
What about the Mistral? The Mistral, this characteristic wind of the PACA region, can blow all year round though with greater frequency in spring and winter. It is a dry and cold wind but means bright sunny days.
