Why should I charter a yacht in Le Marin?

1. Adventure and exploring

The marina also offers superb links to other neighbouring islands in the archipelago, should you wish to adventure further. A boat rental gives you the possibility of exploring different parts of the island, Fort-de-France, La Trinité and Saint-Pierre, but will equally enable you to wander off the beaten track and head to undiscovered and less-frequented bays and coves on the island and beyond. Some of the closer islands include: Sainte-Lucie, Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Dominique and Guadeloupe.

2. Fabulous beaches

Certain islands in the Antilles are considered as pure sunshine destinations, but Martinique is a rich and diverse land with a long and complex history. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t magnificent beaches in the south of the island which are worth exploring during your yacht charter in Le Marin. Some of the most well-known and popular beaches include: Cap Macré, Anse Grosse Roche, Grand Macabou. Long, white stretches of sand and stunning, blue water make these beaches look like they’re been taken right out of a postcard. Relaxing on the beach is one of the best ways to unwind during your sailing holiday.

3. Saint-Etienne church

This Catholic church was built during 1766 and 1845. That’s nearly one century of hard work, and it shows! This area was one of the first to be occupied by France and the building is now a listed and protected historical building. This site is worth a visit during your yacht charter in Le Marin. Take the time to marvel at the beautiful architecture and to learn more about the history of the island. Older buildings and ancient sites are a wonderful testament to history and to the passage of time.

There are even more boats which frequent the marina during August when there is a cultural festival in the town. Some people refer to Le Marin port as a town within a town because of the tremendous size of this incredible marina. The marina is packed full of useful shops where you can provision and make the most of the amazing services available.

What activities should I try during my yacht charter in Le Marin?

1. Diving

Martinique is surrounded by the Atlantic Sea on the east coast and the Caribbean Sea on the west coast. Its location makes it one of the best destinations in the world for diving. The ocean floor is rich in flora and fauna – a diversity which makes every diver smile with delight. You can observe a vast number of tropical fish as well as dazzling coral reefs, tortoises and even dolphins. For more northern and southern extremities in the Caribbean coast line are the best places for diving, but you can hop off your charter at any point during your cruise and jump into the sparkly sea with your snorkel gear at the ready.

2. Hiking

Le Marin is as stunning above sea level as it is down on the ocean floor, and sometimes we must go to extreme heights to further experience the beauty. Don’t hesitate to hike even the most intimidating summits on the island to make the most of the incredible views. The island has no less than 180km of trails to discover, enough to keep you busy! There are enough options to cater for the less experienced among you as well as the most experienced. What are you looking for? Martinique has coastline trails, hikes through dense forest areas and slow walks through luscious vegetation: the diversity of the countryside and the island means that you can easily explore different geographical and territorial areas.

3. Surfing

Surf really took off in Martinique during the 70s and 80s, and with the high waves and general dreamy surfing conditions in the island, it’s easy to see why. Surfing, bodyboarding and paddling continue to be seaside traditions on the island and are a great way to spend time as a family. The best period to surf is between November and March but there are also relatively good conditions between August and November. There are various rentals available where you can hire surf boards, paddles and other equipment you may need.
