Navigation Conditions in Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is one of the spectcaular islands of the Canaries, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This archipelago is composed of seven islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.

Being an island of volcanic origin , its landscape reflects this in its rocky dark stone, creating a spectacular backdrop to its beautiful beaches, which are some of the longest and best of the Canary Islands. The National Park of Corralejo covers 10km of the coastline and is home to long stretches of breathtaking sand dunes.

These islands have a wonderful climate and rich and varied landscape which makes it perfect for sailing during most of the year. Temperatures do not usually drop below 20oC all year round and so they offer the chance to enjoy a warm and pleasant holiday during the European winter, without having to travel very far! The trade winds are predominately from the North East and are consistent from March to August, at a force of around 4-5 on the Beaufort Scale. The island is serviced by a small airport, with connecting flights to Europe and the UK. There are several small marinas offering the services which you need, and the Canary Islands as a whole have many ship chandlers and renters to facilitate your cruise.
