Frequently asked questions

  • What documents are needed to travel to Sardinia?

For EU residents, for a stay up to 30 days you will need a valid passport. For non EU residents, check with the consulate of their country of origin for information on formalities.
  • Who takes care of my transport between the airport and the boat?

The transfer can be arranged by your GlobeSailor advisor and the base manager by taxi or minibus. Payment for this service is generally to be made to GlobeSailor at the time of payment of the balance or directly on site in cash. Don't forget to forward your arrival times to your advisor.
  • How are meals organizaed on the cruise?

It is customary for private cruises with crew to pay in advance an amount of approximately 20%-25% of the rental amount (Advance Provisioning Allowance) in order to cover daily expenses (meals, drinks, fuel, port charges, taxes,...). A preference form will be sent to you to inform the crew of your specific wishes and needs. Note that the APA is an estimate of the operating cost and that part of this amount can be paid to you at the end of the charter, with the list of invoices and expenses incurred. However, some privatised cruises include this cash box and full board, so check with your GlobeSailor advisor.
  • What do the skipper and hostesse do?

All the skippers which we offer are qualified, have the necessary professional licenses and speak fluent English. If you have any particular demands regarding a skipper make sure to let us know.
The skipper is in charge of navigation and your safety on board. Feel free to try out some of the manoeuvres with him; he will be happy to teach you the basics of sailing.
Regarding sleeping arrangements, the skipper will sleep on board, either in a cabin or in the common area (saloon).
The skipper is not in charge of cooking or washing up. A hostess (or cook) will prepare your meals, clean the saloon area and the cabins and make sure the boat is kept tidy.
  • What payments must I make in order to confirm my booking?

To confirm your reservation, you must inform your GlobeSailor advisor who will make an option for you until you receive your deposit. The reservation will only be considered final once your deposit has been received (by bank transfer, Paypal or credit card) from 30 to 50% of the amount of the reservation. A 100% deposit will be required for any reservation less than one month before departure. The balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the boarding.
  • What happens if I need to cancel my cruise?

If you wish to make a cancellation, you should contact your GlobeSailor advisor as soon as possible. Whatever the circumstances, you will be charged the following cancellation fees, depending on when the cancellation is made: up to 90 days before departure = 25%; 89 to 60 days before departure = 50%; 59 to 30 days before departure = 75%; 29 days or less before departure = 100% of the total cost of your booking. We recommend that you sign up for cancellation insurance with your personal insurance provider.
