Azores

DAY 1: Ponta Delgada - Vila Franca do Campo (about 11 miles)
The crew will meet you at 11 am in the bar Baia dos Anjos located in the Portas do Mar marina. You all go together on the boat and discover your cabin. After you settled down, the skipper will give you a quick briefing on life onboard and safety instructions. André will set sail in the afternoon and navigate along the southern coast of the island of São Miguel to reach the small town of Vila Franca do Campo. For dinner, the crew recommends you try a local tavern.

DAY 2: Exploring the islet of Vila Franca do Campo and the Furnas Valley
In the morning, you can dip into the crystal clear water of the islet of Vila Franca. This former underwater volcano, now classified as a nature reserve, is ideal for swimming and snorkeling to observe marine life. You can also paddle along the crater walls and explore the vegetation. Afterward, you will explore Furnas and its hot springs rich in minerals (iron and sulphur). The hot spring temperatures are generally between 35 and 40° C. Later, you will dine and spend the night in Vila Franca do Campo.

DAY 3: Vila Franca do Campo - Vila do Porto (about 50 miles)
Set sail after breakfast to go to Vila do Porto, a charming little town on the island of Santa Maria. Due to its dry and warm climate, Santa Maria is nicknamed "the yellow island." During this sail of about 10 hours, we advise you to enjoy the ocean fully. You are very likely to encounter many cetacean species, including dolphins and whales. At the end of the day, you will arrive on the island.

DAY 4: Visit Santa Maria Island
Today, you will decide with the other passengers what is the plan for the day. You can visit the "red desert" of Santa Maria, which serves as a supply place for potters and then go to Anjos. This small village is known for its magnificent bay and its statue of Christopher Columbus. The explorer is said to have attended a mass in the Ermida chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos on his return from America. André and Ana Rita will also invite you to stay on board and anchor in a pretty bay to snorkel near a wreck. You will have dinner and spend the night in Santa Maria.

DAY 5: Santa Maria - Formigas - Ponta Delgada (about 70 miles)
Today, André will cast off and head for the island of São Miguel. You will stop at Formigas, a group of rocky islets overlooked by a lighthouse and covering more than 9,000 km². You will enjoy diving and swimming in the middle of this fauna and flora preserved from human activity. Back on the boat, you will continue the navigation until Ponta Delgada. Keep your eyes open, you could still meet cetaceans...
