Status of navigation in Polynesia - Tahiti


The best season to navigate in French Polynesia begins in the month of March until October. The wind blows of 15 25 nodes. The hurricane season appears from November to february, therefore, it is not recommended to rent a yacht in Polynesia at that time. Prefer then maybe the yacht rental in Polynesia for one or two days of navigation in ensuring the weather bulletins via daily.

One of the notable dangers to navigate in Polynesia is the training of "pototoes". These "potatoes" are the clusters of coral dating back to the surface of the water and which may cause damage on the hull, the rudders and the pins of boats rental. It is important to use the mapping provided by the renters of local boats but also to navigate the day with the sun zenith to distinguish clearly the different seabed.

The predominant boat rental in Polynesia and Tahiti is of course the catamaran rental with or without skipper. Indeed, a catamaran enjoying in drawing more water low, it may be transferring between the "patatoes" and allow the boaters to take advantage of a bath of sea in absolutely irresistible sandy funds.

The Polynesian archipelago offers two main areas of departure in cruise. Raiatea and the Islands under the wind and Tahiti. It is advised to families to start the cruise from Raiatea in order to discover the island of Tahaa without getting out of large lagoon. For more accustomed to the navigation, it is possible to join the island of Bora Bora and of Huahine. In departing from Tahiti, the islands of Moorea may be discovered by the recreational boaters.
